Dembare Coach downplays Players’ Strike, Shifts focus to Simba Bhora Clash

Despite the disruption to his team’s pre-season preparations by a player boycott, Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigove says his team remains focused ahead of their Castle Challenge Cup clash against reigning champions Simba Bhora.

On Tuesday this week, Dynamos players refused to train and downed their tools in protest over unpaid January wages.

Normalcy however returned at the Harare giants’ camp after the club held two training sessions yesterday.

Signalling a return to their pre-season routine, Dembare had a training session in the morning and another session in the afternoon.

And, while speaking to the state media, Chigove, who is also known as MaBlanyo by the legion of Dynamos fans, downplayed the strike and attributed it to what he termed ‘miscommunication’ between the parties involved.

MaBlanyo insists that the team remained fully focused on their upcoming friendly matches ahead of the Castle Challenge Cup.

“Today (yesterday), we managed to have two training sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon,” he said.

“We remain focused as a team ahead of the Castle Challenge Cup clash.

“We are working hard to finalise our squad ahead of the new season and we are using friendly matches to assess our players.”

According to MaBlanyo, Dynamos will play a friendly match in the Midlands on Saturday, which will be followed by another match on Monday, as part of their preparations for the new season.

“The industrial action was a result of a miscommunication and everything is being worked out as normalcy has been restored.

“We are working on bringing the best out of the squad,” said Chigove.

Dembare players are yet to receive their salaries.
