ED, Chiwenga not Fighting, says Cabinet Minister

HARARE- A Zanu PF cabinet minister has downplayed alleged intraparty ructions, including amplified claims that all is not well between Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Ret (Gen) Constantino Chiwenga.
Speaking to journalists in Harare last Friday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere said there is oneness, unity of purpose and true comradeship in the country’s Presidium.

Muswere also said there is “no noise in the cockpit”.
He also claimed that Mnangagwa’s Government has continued to implement life-changing programmes and projects, thereby endearing the ruling party with many locals.
“In terms of the leadership that has been provided by His Excellency the President, Dr ED Mnangagwa, who has been democratically elected both in Zanu-PF as a political party and in the August 2023 general elections by the overwhelming majority of the people of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President continues to roll out democratic inclusive programmes and projects now numbering more than 8 000,” Muswere said.
“All this is increasing the confidence and support in terms of the popularity of the Government of Zimbabwe and the ruling party, Zanu-PF,” he added.
Tempers are flaring high in Zanu PF after Blessed Geza, a central committee member, recently led a group of war veterans to publicly criticize Mnangagwa’s administration and called upon the 81-year-old statesman to step down.
Geza is now on police wanted list, facing a multiplicity of charges- including that of undermining the authority of Mnangagwa.
