Meet Henry Mhungu the man who was pinned against a wall by a lorry and survived

If there’s one person who really has a story to tell, it could only be Zimplats dump truck operator, Henry Mhungu, the man who was pinned against a wall by a lorry last Saturday and manage to escape looming death.
According to Henry who works at Mupfuti Mine at Zimplats, the incident occurred on Saturday when he was relaxing at a shop around midday when a lorry accelerated towards the bench where he was sitting.
As drama unfolded, the lorry pushed against the wall.

“The driver, instead of applying brakes, accelerated towards the wall of the shop where the victim was sitting only to stop after hitting the guy and pinning him against the wall,” Fatso, an eyewitnesses told the state media.
And, speaking in an interview, Henry’s friend, Simon Musa said:
“We were together seconds before the accident, I just got up to get into the shop to buy some beers just two steps from him and boom the accident happened.
“I was lucky, it could have been three of us because it was me, Henry, and Janyure at the same bench.
“I was a few metres away from the scene and I came here rushing only to find some people busy taking videos and pictures instead of helping him.
“Me and my friend then started doing first aid to Henry and it’s sad that some people were taking pictures whilst someone was bleeding, it’s pathetic.”
Later on, police details arrived at the scene where the shop was damaged due to the impact.
Henry was quickly ferried to a nearby hospital before being transported to Harare for further assessment and treatment.
