Nyanga Extra-Lessons Teacher Sentenced to 30 Years for Repeated Rape of Minor

An extra-lessons techer was sentenced to 30 years in jail for repeated rape of a minor he had taken under his academic win.

Nyanga Magistrate’s Court has handed down a severe 30-year prison term to 24-year-old Laxon Chisinga for the repeated violation of a 10-year-old student under his academic supervision. The Claremont resident maintained his innocence throughout proceedings, necessitating a comprehensive trial before justice was served.

Detailed Account of the Crimes

Court documents reveal Chisinga exploited his position as an after-class tutor to prey upon the vulnerable third-grader. Prosecutor Cuthbert Bhosha presented compelling evidence showing the predator first assaulted the child in April during what should have been a protected learning environment.

“The defendant systematically manipulated the situation,” Bhosha explained. “After evening lessons concluded, he isolated the victim in his bedroom under false pretenses, committing the first horrific violation.”

Extra-Lessons Teacher Jailed For Repeated Rape Of A Minor

The abuse escalated in early May when Chisinga deliberately detained the minor after dismissing other students. Fabricating a story about fearing solitude, he again forced himself upon the child. Alerted by maternal intuition, the girl’s mother initially received deceptive explanations from the perpetrator.

A disturbing pattern emerged when the victim later returned voluntarily to her abuser’s residence, demonstrating the psychological trauma inflicted. Only after maternal intervention did the full extent of the violations surface.

Justice System Responds Decisively

Magistrate Phathekile Msipa delivered consecutive 15-year sentences for each criminal count under Zimbabwe’s stringent sexual violence legislation. Medical confirmation from Nyanga District Hospital substantiated the assaults, leaving no doubt about the crimes’ severity.

This case highlights critical concerns about child safety in educational settings and the importance of parental vigilance. The substantial prison term sends a clear message about Zimbabwe’s intolerance for such violations against minors.
