Allan Wilson High School principal Tafara Zhou has launched legal action against a former student who previously accused him of sexual misconduct. Zhou has filed extortion charges against 19-year-old Tanaka Elvis Sikwavaile and alleged accomplice Charles Masiyandaita, a former teacher at the same institution.

Court documents reveal that Zhou claims the defendants attempted to extort $15,000 from him in exchange for dropping the ongoing aggravated indecent assault case at Harare Magistrate’s Court. The case stems from April 12 when Zhou was arrested on abuse allegations but later released on free bail.
According to prosecution details presented before Magistrate Apollonia Marutya, the alleged extortion attempt began on April 25. Masiyandaita, identifying himself as Sikwavaile’s guardian, reportedly contacted Emmanuel Venge, vice-chairperson of the school’s SDC committee, after failing to reach Zhou directly.

Recorded Demands and Arrest Of The Accuser
The prosecution alleges Masiyandaita made repeated demands through Venge, threatening that Zhou would face trial and potential imprisonment if he refused payment. Zhou reportedly declined, stating he wouldn’t participate in illegal activities, prompting Venge to alert the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
In a coordinated operation, ZACC officials had Venge arrange a meeting at Montague Shopping Centre where Masiyandaita and Sikwavaile were apprehended after accepting $200 in marked bills. Both defendants now face formal extortion charges as Zhou’s original abuse case continues through the judicial system.
