Note: You must apply through your country’s nominating authority via AUN, and you can only submit one application per cycle.

💰 Fellowship Benefits: What’s Covered?

📆 Fellowship Duration

You can stay in Japan for 1 to 12 months, depending on your research project and agreement with your host institution. The flexibility allows you to tailor your experience to suit your academic goals.


📂 Required Documents

Make sure you prepare the following:

  1. Academic Transcripts – From undergraduate to most recent degree

  2. Ph.D. Certificate – Or a letter confirming your expected graduation date

  3. Recommendation Letter – From your current academic/employer institution

  4. Letter from Japanese Host Researcher – Can be submitted later, but no later than 15 August 2025

  5. Research Plan (2 pages) – Include background, goals, methods, and expected results

  6. List of Publications (1 page) – Include only peer-reviewed articles with full citation details

  1. Secure a Host Researcher in Japan.

  2. Apply through the ASEAN University Network (AUN).

  3. Be nominated by your country’s official authority.

  4. If selected, your name is submitted to JSPS by 1 December 2025.

  5. Final decisions are made by JSPS and announced about 3 months later.
