The South African football icon, who earned 91 caps for Bafana Bafana, last featured professionally during the 2023/24 season.

Since stepping away from competitive football, Itu Khune has remained active in various ventures, including mining, sports betting as a shareholder at TopBet, television punditry with the SABC, and ambassadorial roles for both the Nedbank Cup and Carling Knockout Cup.

Partnership With Ruimsig Football Academy

Khune’s latest move sees him collaborate with the Ruimsig Football Academy of Excellence, which has announced a landmark partnership with the former national team goalkeeper.

According to Soccer Laduma, the collaboration has resulted in the launch of Itu Khune Distribution 101 Goalkeeper Coaching, a specialised programme designed to groom young shot-stoppers.

Focus on Technical and Mental Development

The programme will cater for goalkeepers aged between Under-12 and Under-18, with training sessions set to be held at Avianto Estate Private School.

The initiative will place emphasis on technical ability, tactical understanding, and the mental strength required to perform consistently at a high level.
