Bouncers steal CAPS United’s gate takings cash

CAPS United appear to have incurred significant gate losses, amounting to thousands of dollars, during Sunday’s high-profile Harare Derby at the National Sports Stadium.

The Green Machine were the home team, and they lost the game 0-2.

It has now been revealed that they also suffered significant losses at the gates, with thousands of funds that were supposed to have passed into their account instead ending up in the coffers of syndicates.

According to H Metro, Many of these syndicates, with the assistance of some notorious bouncers, now specialise in seizing control of major sporting and musical events.

Reports suggest that only 18 500 paid to watch the big match even though conservative estimates put the figure at over 30 000.

“There was bloodbath at the gates and a number of people are smiling right now because they made a killing in terms of cash,” said a source.

“It’s a shame because our sport will not develop when the money, which is supposed to go into the coffers of the clubs, to help them deal with their costs and inspire their players with incentives, ends up in the hands of some scrupulous individuals.”
