Man in court for sharing Ramaphosa’s pσrn images

The man who is accused of distributing pσrnographic images with overlaid faces of President Cryril Ramaphosa and police minister Bheki Cele and his wife Thembeka Ngcobo made his first appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates Court yesterday.

The images were allegedly distributed to police officers and members of the public on social media platforms.

THE CHARGES

Scebi Thabiso Nene, (35), is facing charges of two counts of crimen injuria. NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said Nene also sent the pictures to a complainant who reported the matter.

“After investigations by the Hawks, Nene was arrested on Monday, 22 May 2023 for contravening the Cyber Crime Act 19 of 2020. He was arrested by the Gauteng Crimes Against the State (CATS) team together with Pietermaritzburg-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks,” Mahanjana said.

Nene was remanded in custody. The matter was transferred to Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court for his next appearance on 30 May 2023.
