Pitso Mosimane gives Al Ahli HISTORIC win in Saudi Arabia

Pitso Mosimane, a seasoned winner, has added to his growing collection of trophies by leading his Al Ahli Saudi team to a historic league title in a thrilling title race with a 1-0 victory over Al-Qadisiyah in the penultimate match of the season.

For Mosimane’s team to win the league and secure their promotion back to the top flight, they needed their opponents to lose points.

The plot has a happily ever after as Al Ahli won at home and Mosimane won the league in just his first season by defeating Al Akhdoud 3-2.

With 71 points, Mosimane’s team now has a 4-point lead over Al Hazm, who are in second position with 67 points.

Al Hazm can only reach 70 points even if they defeat Al Ahli in their final game at home.

Under the Yelo sponsorship, the Saudi Arabia second-tier league offers prize money of at least R25 million.

Pitso Mosimane has been at Al Ahli since September 2022 and has won 19, drawn six, and lost three games in that time, resulting in the club’s promotion back to the Saudi Pro League next season, where Cristiano Ronaldo will be an opponent.

Mosimane has now won trophies with all of the clubs he has coached, including SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Al Ahli.

With another trophy in the bag, it means Mosimane has now won trophies with all clubs that he has coached from SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Al Ahli.

While the title is secure for Al Ahli the matter of Pitso Mosimane’s future is still pending with his contract reportedly set to expire at the end of the season and no extension deal in the bag.

The 58-year-old has been linked with the Super Eagles job and Esperance amongst options on the continent.
