Sony Buys Tyla Out Of Her Contract With Epic Records For R38 Million

There’s an ongoing debate among South Africans over the recent decision by singer Tyla to allow Sony Music to buy her out of her contract with Epic Records for a sum of R38 million. As far as many of them were concerned, it was a bad move on her part.

According to multiple reports, Tyla was signed to Epic Records following her musical success. At the moment, however, Sony Music has bought her out of the contract for a reported sum of $2 million, which translates to about R38 million.

Many wanted to know what the details of the buy-out were, as they believed it was a bad decision on the singer’s part and one that could cost her dearly in the future. Tyla herself has yet to comment on the claims she’s been bought out of the contract she signed with Epic back in 2021. You can check out the post below.

Tyla has had explosive success this year, with her “Water” song not only going viral but earning her a collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott. She had also gained a major career boost with her nomination for a Grammy. Whether she wins or not, she’ll somehow still have a Grammy-nominated to her name.
