7de Laan Murder: Hunt For Actor’s Identity Begins
South Africans and 7de Laan fans all over the world are on the hunt to identify which actor reportedly shot and killed his male lover amidst reports that he is currently under heavy guard at an undisclosed hospital battling for his life after attempting suicide.
Since news broke out, very little has been revealed about boh the victim and perpetrator and now social media is all jitery.
SABC 2’s flagship soapie 7de Laan is regarded as the longest-running soapie in the country as it recently celebrated 23 years of airing since it premiered on the channel back in April 2000.
Throughout its run, the soapie has not faced many scandals except when it was on the verge of cancellation, or when it introduced its black-centric and interracial dating storylines or its gay storyline.
Which 7de Laan actor murdered his Ben 10?
While the country had its focus on the ongoing movie of Dr. Nandipha Magudumana and Facebook rapist Thabo Bester, it seems that the focus has now been split. This is as in the late hours of Thursday, 13 April 2023, a headline-worthy story was revealed.
Shared by Beast of News via Scrolla Africa, it initially detailed:
“7de Laan television actor (50) allegedly shot & killed her Ben10 partner (29) in Norkem Park, Gauteng. The star then tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping tablets. She survived & (was) taken to Tembisa hospital, where she is receiving treatment under police guard.”
However, in a subsequent post in the thread, it was corrected that the actor in question was male and not female. Meaning that the alleged couple was a same-sex couple.
POINT OF CORRECTION: Both the deceased (29) and the arrested (50) are men. The actor is a 50-year-old man who is in hospital, and his partner, 29-year-old male (deceased).

As such, initially suggestions of elderly female actresses was ruled out, and the public started to scour the list of its male main actors who are over the age of fifty. Names like Dirk Stoltz, who plays the character of DeWet Basson was thrown around. However, Stoltz is married therefore, there is little chance that this could be the actor in question.

Moreover, there is David Ross, who played the character of Chris is one other name that has been thrown into the mix. To make matters worse for the actor is the fact that his relationship status is unknown and that he turned fifty this year, hence there is a possibility that it could be him if the matter is true.

On the other hand, some social media users felt that the withholding of the actor’s name was another subtle racist move by the media. This is as some social media users believe that if it was an actor of colour that was implicated in the scandal, the outlet would have shared their name with an allegedly attached to the story.
