Kelly Khumalo’s career on the line over Senzo Meyiwa murder lin

The South African music industry has been rocked by the recent revelations in the murder trial of Senzo Meyiwa, with singer Kelly Khumalo reportedly losing out on gigs and money as a result.

According to sources, promoters are wary of booking Khumalo due to fears of reputational damage after confession statements implicated her as the mastermind behind Meyiwa’s murder.

The trial has been ongoing for years, with accusations and rumours swirling around Khumalo’s involvement in the crime. However, the recent ruling by Judge Ratha Mokgoathleng that the confession statements of accused number one Muzi Sibiya and two Bongani Ntanzi were admissible has increased the scrutiny on Khumalo. In the statements, the accused alleged that Khumalo paid R100 000 for the murder of Meyiwa, her late boyfriend and baby daddy.

The impact on Khumalo’s career has been significant, with sources stating that she had many gigs lined up before the revelations in court.

“After the startling revelations were made, they shrunk. Promoters don’t want to touch her because obviously they know what’s going on with the court case,” said one source.

“Some of her bookings have been cancelled because of this drama.”

This has left Kelly Khumalo’s career hanging in the balance, with her reportedly losing out on money as a result. The source also revealed that Khumalo’s bookings had been cancelled at the eleventh hour, leaving other artists who were scheduled to perform with her in shock.

While Kelly Khumalo appears unbothered by the happenings in the court, sources say that she is worried about what this means for her freedom and her career. “She is obviously stressed, but doesn’t want to show it because she knows people want to see her down,” said one source. “She’s always painted herself as a victim throughout this debacle, but things have changed.”
