Meet Nellie, Tanzanian Woman With Three Husbands

Nellie, a mother of two, leaves people astonished after sharing a story of how she is happily married to her three husbands Jimmy, Danny and Hassan.

She married her brother-in-law after her husband of eight years died in a car accident and later proceeded to marry the other two men. Nellie is a car dealer and provides for all her three husbands who are currently unemployed. The most fascinating part is that she bought all her three husbands’ cars, they all live in the same house and they all spend quality time with her.

Nellie is confident that her husbands can not cheat since they are happy and claims that she treats them equally.

“I am the village record holder in this area with three husbands. I have lived with these three men as my husbands for three years,” she said in a media interview.

They have all lived together for three years and the husbands say that this has resulted in them becoming best friends. Their respect for each other is what has made them live peacefully.

This has never been heard of in Zimbabwe although women often date more than one man at a time.

Polyandry is punishable, lawyer says

It was a declaration that left many talking, one that brings to light the fact that her actions are punishable by law.

Nicodemus Agweyo, a Tanzanian lawyer states that as much as polygamy is accepted by law, polyandry is an offence punishable by law.

“In the event a woman gets married to more than one man, she is liable to a prison sentence of not more than three years,” he told Ayo TV.

The lawyer added that the clause is straightforward and does not offer alternative punishments like fines.

Agweyo adds that a man who marries an already married woman, even if his religion or culture allows, is also guilty of a crime and liable to up to three years behind bars.
