Convicted Thief Mai TT Faces Extended Jail Term

Popular comedian and convicted thief, Felistas ‘Mai TT’ Murata, is facing the grim possibility of an extended term behind bars as a vetting process is currently underway to determine if she has violated multiple court orders for community service in the past. It was discovered that Mai TT had failed to comply with a court order to perform community service following a previous assault conviction. This revelation prompted a delay in her sentencing for the theft of trust property as the court seeks to verify if she had violated similar orders in the past.

Mai TT’s lawyer argued for leniency, highlighting her status as a single mother of two with ongoing civil proceedings and being HIV positive. However, the prosecutor pushed for a custodial sentence, emphasizing the severity of the offense and the financial loss suffered by the complainant.

Magistrate Munashe Chibanda ruled in favor of the prosecution but granted the Community Service Office one day to verify Mai TT’s previous convictions before making a final decision on her sentence.

The court proceedings involved the submission of aggravating and mitigating factors by both counsels, with the defense emphasizing that Mai TT had learned her lesson from the conviction. The prosecutor, however, stressed the need to send a strong message that such dishonest conduct would not go unpunished.
