“Kaya FM Shares Insight into the Decision to Part Ways with Dineo Ranaka”

A few weeks ago, it was announced that the radio station fired her following her struggle with suicidal thoughts.

In June, Dineo was diagnosed with severe chronic depression and the radio station admitted her into a medical health institution.

However, it was reported that Kaya couldn’t reach her after trying to help with her health issue which they initially heard on her social media account.

“Kaya FM has announced the termination of the services of presenter Dineo Ranaka with immediate effect,” said the radio station in a memo sent to her employees.

“The morning [show] presenter has been off the air since the 22nd of May when she did not appear for her show, and the station was subsequently alerted to her public outcry on social media, which led to an unfortunate medical diagnosis.”

“Following several unsuccessful efforts by Kaya FM 959 to engage with Dineo Ranaka on her wellness journey, the station had to take a difficult decision to part ways with her.”

“While we place great value on our people and their wellbeing, we have to balance this with the needs of the business.

“At this juncture, it is in the company’s interest to bring consistency to the station’s operational needs to best serve our clients and listeners.”

The acting managing director Collen Louw appreciated her contribution to the station and hoped to work with her again.

“Kaya 959 is prepared to continue supporting Dineo’s mental wellness journey and we hope she will be open to discussing mutually beneficial future opportunities.

“We are grateful for Dineo’s valuable contribution to Kaya 959 during her time with us and wish her well.”

According to Sunday World, Dineo’s legal team might challenge the termination at the right time.
