Junior Pope Dies ‘Again’ After News Of His Revival

National President, of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has expressed sadness over the death of Junior Pope, saying “It’s so so sad that our joy was shortlived.”

According to a post on his Facebook page on Thursday morning, he said although he earlier announced that Junior Pope was alive out of excitement when they noticed the tingling of his fingers, he eventually passed away after efforts to revive him failed.

He added: “Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows the best. We finally lost him.

“Mr Friday corpse has been identified but three other corpses are yet to be found.”

Divers on Wednesday afternoon recovered the body of Junior Pope after falling into Anam River in Anambra State when a boat he was riding in capsized.

One of the divers who recovered their bodies, Peter Chinedu, said they were on their way to a movie location.

A sympathizer, simply called David, however, stated he was returning from a shooting location when their boat capsized on Anam River.

The actor had earlier shared a video of himself and others on the boat on their way to the movie location.

Captioning the video, he wrote: “See me lamenting….The risk we take to entertain you; crossing River 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…. Na wahooooo Who does that ??”

AGN suspends movies involving boat rides

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has stopped all film productions involving riverine areas and boat rides following the tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, and three crew members.

The guild’s President, Ejezie Rollas, disclosed this in a circular dated April 11, 2024 and posted on social media on Thursday.
Additionally, actors are barred from participating in any film produced by Adanma Luke until further notice.

Luke is the producer of the movie titled “The other side of life,” in which Junior Pope was starring before his death.

The AGN statement read, “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on April 10, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.

“There should be no shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

“The film titled ‘The other side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely.

“Also, no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice.

“While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons, may their souls rest in peace.”

News broke on Wednesday that Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in an accident while travelling by boat away from the film set.

Rollas later shared a post on his social media handle that Junior Pope survived and was receiving treatment.

He later deleted the post.
