He reportedly 'died' in a boat accident while shooting a movie scene

Popular Nollywood actor Junior Pope has been revived a few hours after he was declared dead following a boat accident.

National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, had confirmed to Channels Television that the remains of the actor had been deposited at the morgue.

He also confirmed that the remains of a crew member were recovered while the bodies of three other members were yet to be recovered as they were five in the boat which capsized after colliding with another boat around River Niger in Anambra state.

However, in a new update circulating, it was revealed that the mortuary attendant confirmed that he still has life in him and was later revived.

According to earlier reports on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker Sam Olatunji. Olatunji revealed that the actor, along with three others, tragically lost their lives after falling into the Anam River while returning from a movie location in Anambra State. Their bodies have since been recovered.

Hours before the incident, Junior Pope had shared a video of himself on Monday, April 9, 2023, in a boat, fervently praying for a safe journey to his destination. Tragically, the accident happened on their return journey on April 10th.

Known for his dedication to his family and his craft, Junior Pope not only graced the screens but also ventured into skit-making, captivating his audience with his engaging videos.

Taking to his verified Instagram account, filmmaker Sam Olatunji announced the heartbreaking news, expressing condolences and solidarity with the grieving family. He stated,

“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to location and their bodies have been recovered. What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Multiple sources confirm this sad development to us.”
