A frightening event was filmed live on Facebook last week when a 22-year-old Durban University of Technology student was beaten and knifed, reportedly by a fellow student, at their apartment on Durban’s major Steve Biko campus.
In a video acquired by The Witness, the girl, who was live-streaming a study session from her room, can be heard yelling at her assailant as she tries to close the door.
As the girl fights to defend herself against her assailant, she can be heard pleading for help, while other pupils inquire about the source of the blood.
Following the incident, the girl stated in a subsequent video that she had gotten medical treatment and requested prayers.
“I ask myself how I managed to fight her off while she was on top of me. I am putting everything in the hands of the police, and I hope that justice will be served,” she says.
