Durban Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Double Murd@r

A 31-year-old forex trader, Lungani Mthethwa, has been handed a 25-year prison sentence by the Durban High Court for the murder of two women, Zizipho Gabisa and Anele Mbokazi.

The sentencing took place on March 17, 2025, following Mthethwa’s guilty plea.

The tragic incident occurred on August 25, 2024, in Kenville, Sea Cow Lake, Durban, where both victims were shot and killed.

The trial faced delays, including postponed bail hearings in September 2024, before finally concluding with Mthethwa admitting to the killings.

Court records reveal that Mthethwa and his co-accused, Sandile Chilli, had been socialising with the victims on the day of the murders before events took a fatal turn.

The sentencing sparked mixed reactions from the victims’ families, with some expressing frustration over what they perceived as an inadequate punishment.

The courtroom was filled with emotion as the judge delivered the ruling, highlighting the devastating impact of the crime.
