Fastjet Airlines applauded for accepting ticket bookings in ZiG

Fastjet Airlines has made a significant move after taking the initiative to accept the recently launched ZiG currency for ticket bookings much to the delight of some Zimbabweans.

The airline now accepts ZiG currency for airline bookings and payments. Fastjet Airlines has become the first airline to accept the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency as payment.

Customers can now book and pay in ZiG currency

In a statement shared on their X handle, Fastjet Airlines announced that they now accept ZiG currency as payment.

Fastjet revealed that customers can now book and pay in ZiG currency for their air travel.

 

fastjet Zimbabwe is pleased to inform you that we have successfully migrated to the ZiG currency.

Customers can now book and pay at ZiG.

In addition, Fastjet informed its customers that payment in ZiG currency can be made at any ticket counter at the airport or the fastest-selling stores.

 

Payment in ZiG can only be made at any fastjet ticket sales counter at the airport or at fastjet sales stores,” the statement reads.

 

Zimbabweans applaud the decision

The ZiG currency was introduced on April 4, 2024 by the newly appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Dr. John Mushayavanhu. The introduction of the ZiG structured currency has been widely accepted and rejected by other companies.

 

Zimbabweans have welcomed this development. Netizens applauded the airline for accepting local currency.
