An accountant is in hot soup after it was discovered that he had been duping his company of large some of money through a fraudulent scheme.
Nigel Nhamo, a 33-year-old accountant at Dinson Iron and Steel Company in Manhize, Mvuma, has been accused of stealing approximately USD80,000 from his colleagues.
The State alleges that between July 2023 and April 2024, Nhamo altered the payroll and time sheets consolidated by the Human Resources Department

He deducted various amounts of money from different individual employee accounts. He transferred the variances collected from them to his personal bank accounts after forwarding the payroll with alterations to the bank.
The accused person showed no signs of remorse for his actions and went on to enjoy a lavish wedding with his wife in December 2023, followed by a honeymoon in South Africa. During their time there, they indulged in adventurous activities like rock climbing on Table Mountain.
Nhamo has been charged with theft and will appear before the Mvuma Magistrates’ Court.
