Maximum-security prisoner escapes from Chikurubi
A prisoner who was serving a sentence of one year for causing malicious damage to property managed to break out of Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison. The offender, who is 24 years old, was convicted of the crime.
On Wednesday, Danaishe Chinyama was able to break out of prison, and the police have since begun their search for him.
He had already completed eight months of his sentence and would shortly be eligible for parole.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who serves as a spokesperson for the National Police, verified the occurrence.
“The Harare Police Department is looking for any information that could lead to the capture of Danaishe Chinyama, who is 24 years old and is wanted for escape from Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison on December 7, 2022.
“The suspect was doing time in prison for causing malicious damage to property and had already completed eight months of his sentence.”
