Aspiring Zanu PF MP steals a uS$40k Land Cruiser
Regis Maburutse, a Zanu PF apologist eyeing Chirumanzu South, will appear in court next week for allegedly stealing a car. Maburutse is accused of conspiring with Prolific Auctions to sell Tony Renato Sarpo’s $40,000 Land Cruiser and $15,000 spray booth. Rhodesville CR26/12 reported the incident.
The Sheriff of the High Court hired Prolific Auctions, run by Livingstone Mavunga, to sell Matebeleland Engineering trading as Yagden Engineering (PVT) LTD’s property after Hothfield Enterprises (PVT) LTD successfully sued it for US$186,924 plus 12% interest per annum. The Land Cruiser and spray booth were not on the writ of execution list (Case No. H/C 12773/16).
Prolific Auctions allegedly sold the vehicle as scrap on July 4, 2019, the same day other items on the writ were sold, despite it being in perfect condition.
Prolific Auctions allegedly sold the vehicle and spray booth to Donald Mangenje for a song. According to Prolific Auctions invoice 16091, the vehicle and spray booth each sold for $2,000 USD.
This was despite the fact that the auction raised more than Hothfield demanded from the sale of the items. Maburutse asked the High Court Sheriff to transfer the money to his Ecobank account in Msasa.
Sarpo of 39 Court Road, Greendale, Harare, left the vehicle in 2016 after a dispute with his partner, Wayne Williams, over the company’s running (H/C 1324/17).
Maburutse and Brendon David Williams were then named directors.
Sarpo submitted a list of personal items he brought to the company and those he acquired during his time there. Car was listed.
Wayne Williams and Maburutse allegedly hired a locksmith to open the car and used it without Sarpo’s permission. Wayne used the car before Maburutse took it. Mirror Masvingo
