Mampintsha’s Mother Zamanguni Gumede Dies

Zamanguni Gumede, Mampintsha’s mother, died after a brief illness following the death of her son last December.

Ms Gumede, 64, died last night in Westworth Hospital. Following Mampintsha’s untimely death, her health reportedly began to deteriorate rapidly.

Mampintsha’s sister Pinky Gumede confirmed her death early Monday morning.

She stated that she received a call around 10 p.m. informing her that her mother had died. This was following a day spent with her.

“Now that she’s gone, I can see she wanted to bid farewell to us. She told me she was old and that she was leaving. She asked if everyone was around, and I said yes. She wanted to see Sponge, Mampintsha’s son and I told her he was not around. I could see the sadness in her eyes, but she did not say anything. She gave us her blessings and we spent a bit of time with her. We then left. At about 10:00 pm I received a call informing me that she’s dead,” Pinki narrated the ordeal.

Mampintsha’s mother had been sick for a while before the death of her son in December. Her condition worsened following Mampintsha’s death.

As her health worsened, she was reportedly failing to come to terms with her son’s passing.

Pinki revealed to the media that she had also forgotten that her son Mampintsha had passed away as she kept on asking to see him from the hospital.

“Even now she is still asking for Mandla and I’ve had to tell her that he is at the airport,” Mampintsha’s sister said at that time.

Gumede had been diagnosed with a stroke as her late son. She, however, got her liver infected during the stroke.

The family is currently failing to deal with her death financially. Pinki told the media that her family was not financially ready for two deaths within a short space of time.
