Scandal Rocks ZRP As 19 Police Recruits Beat Up People In Harare CBD, Arrested

The incident in which 19 Zimbabwe police recruits randomly beat up people in Harare Central Business District has raised more questions than answers even after they were later arrested.

These trainees committed unreasonable acts of hostility, assaulting innocent citizens without any kind of justification.

The ZRP acknowledged that investigations into the disorderly behaviour of police recruits are presently underway in a statement issued by the police national spokesman, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi emphasised that the Commissioner-General of Police does not condone aggressive actions by any police personnel.

He assured the public of the professionalism of the police force and their commitment to interacting with the people of Zimbabwe and visitors respectfully and lawfully.

In a statement, the ZRP said,

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are currently underway in connection with the unruly conduct exhibited by some Police recruits in Harare Central Business District on 18th August 2023 between 1830 hours and 1930 hours.
Nineteen (19) Police recruits have been arrested and will face the due process of the law.

The Commissioner-General of Police does not condone violent behaviour by any police officer and assures the public of the professionalism of police officers as they interact with the people of Zimbabwe and visitors.
