Chamisa Buys Leonard Zhakata’s Album For US$2000

Zora Music legend Leonard Zhakata yesterday launched his album “Mupendero Wenguva” at Crown Plaza and Nelson Chamisa bought it for US$2000.

According to reports, Zhakata got more than US$12000 from different sponsors.

Airing his excitement, Nelson Chamisa says people were electrified when he made his appearance at the launch.

“Last night I attended Zimbabwe’s music legend, Leonard K Zhakata’s album launch ‘Mupendero wenguva’. There was just excitement in the house when I just showed up at the event unexpectedly. Zimbabweans are a great &wonderful people. Ours is a great country &place. #OneNationOneVision”

Other notable business people who contributed towards Leonard Zhakata’s album are as follows;

Mr Benza the CEO of Herentals group of schools and colleges bought the CD with $ 5000 USD, Cossy Rules: $2000usd, Hon Professor Paul Mavima:$700usd, Nelson Chamisa :$ 200usd, Cde Shutto: $1000usd
Madam Boss:$200usd, Boss Simon: $600, UFIC :2000usd
Zhakata spent many years of persecution and blacklisting of his songs which were deemed politically incorrect by the public broadcaster, ZBC Holdings.

And it was not only the public broadcaster that shunned his politically-charged songs as the singer also received some bashing from the public media’s print sections which demonised him as a spent force.

Zhakata had startled the country’s music fraternity with the release of his 1994 hit song Mugove in which he deplored those in authority for neglecting the workforce while they amassed wealth.

Yesterday he also released a song which decries corruption in Zimbabwe.
