Notorious Bouncers Fail To Bounce Back From Prison

Notorious bouncers, Blessing Kumunda and Gideon Sanyangore, yesterday failed to secure bail when they appeared in court.

Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje remanded the duo in custody to January 31.

The two are facing attempted murder charges.

The State alleged that the duo became violent after being informed that Pabloz Night Club had closed for the day.

It is alleged that they started attacking patrons that tried restraining them.

One of them was captured on video brandishing a knife and sta_bbing a Pabloz Night Club security guard.

However, their lawyer denied that they caused any havoc, saying they were actually attacked by the said complainants and were only defending themselves.

But the State submitted that the bouncers committed the crime on December 24, and surrendered themselves to police on December 29, after pressure from social media.

It was further submitted that the duo did not give a plausible explanation why they took five days to hand themselves in if they did not commit any crime.

The court said the duo is facing a serious charge of attempted murder and used a dangerous weapon which left one complainant wounded.

Magistrate Mambanje also said the evidence presented is sufficient proof that the two committed crime.

He also said the duo disappeared from the scene after causing havoc and only showed up thinking that they were facing a light offence.

It was after handing themselves to the police that they learnt they were facing serious charges, the magistrate said.

The magistrate ruled that the duo might intimidate and interfere with witnesses who are well known to them.-H Metro
