Songs by Winky D on Failed Leadership, Presented in a List

Zimdancehall musician Winky D, whose real name is Wallace Chirumiko, has faced a lot of criticism in recent days following the release of his album, Eureka, on which several artists featured.

Winky D’s critics include self-styled prophet and ZANU PF sympathizer Passion Java, Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) president Mike Chimombe, music producer and promoter DJ Fantan, and Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation Deputy Minister, Tinoda Machakaire, among others.

They all accused Winky D of dabbling in politics and attacking the government, with DJ Fantan going as far as claiming that the musician was paid to criticize the government.

Holy Ten, who featured on “Ibotso”, one of the tracks on the album, said he regretted collaborating with Winky D, saying the song had been politicized.

However, Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa (Independent) said there is nothing wrong with Winky D bringing up pertinent issues which are plaguing the country.

Mliswa argued that “Winky D never insulted, attacked, or cursed anyone”, adding “the thematic content on Eureka Eureka is the same since way back for Winky D” as he “has produced many songs before with similar content.”
