Thabo Bester Was Born After A Rαpe Incident: Mother Reveals Shocking Details

Maria Mabaso, the mother of convicted rαpist and murderer Thabo Bester, says she still cares for him, despite the undeniably horrific things he is accused of doing.

Bester appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 14 April 2023, facing a string of new charges, including defeating the ends of justice and escaping lawful custody. The case will continue in the High Court on 16 May 2023.

WHAT THABO BESTER’S MOTHER SAYS ABOUT HIM

The story of Thabo Bester and his lover, Dr Nandipha Magudumana has piqued the interest in money. There has been some interest in Bester’s upbringing and life as a career criminal, which Mabaso has shed some light on.

  • Thabo Bester is a product of rαpe: Mabaso told News24 that her son was conceived after a man rαped her when she was a teenager. She said it is still a sore subject for her to talk about. She said she and her cousin had gotten a lift from a man who then forced himself on her. “That man nearly killed me. He rαped me and knocked me down with his car, but luckily, I didn’t die,” she said.
  • She wants her son to stay in prison: Bester’s mother further said she was concerned for his safety and reckons that staying behind bars is the only way to ensure his safety.
  • He didn’t make contact after his escape: Mabaso said she was left distraught after learning about her son’s death and that he never made an attempt to reach out to them.
  • Despite living a lavish life, he never sent money home: Mabaso also said she was shocked to learn about her son’s expensive lifestyle after his escape, which couldn’t be any more different from theirs – their family is poor. She added that he never even sent them money.

Bester was believed to have died in a prison fire in Mangaung in 2022, where he had been serving time for rape and murder. However, a probe by news publication GroundUp revealed what is now known as an elaborate plot to help Bester escape prison and fake his death, with the help of his lover Dr Nandi Magudumana and correctional service officials.

‘BONNIE AND CLYDE’ FACE THE MUSIC

On Friday, Bester, Magudumana and a Mozambican national were arrested by Tanzanian authorities. The trio was aprehended in Arusha, just 10 kilometres from the country’s border with Kenya. A South African delegation made up of Correctional Services and SAPS top brass landed in Tanzania on Monday, 10 April 2023, to facilitate the return of the trio to the country.

The couple was dubbed South Africa’s Bonnie and Clyde.

Dr Nandi appeared in the same court just days before and the matter was postponed to 17 April for a possible bail application.
