26 children rescued from human traffickers

Twenty-six South African children were rescued from a suspected human trafficking ring in Kliprivier on Wednesday. The children, who ranged in age from 6 to 17, were found in a rundown building in the city.

Police said they received a tip-off from a concerned citizen who had seen the children being held in the building. When officers arrived, they found the children locked in rooms and poorly dressed. Some of the children were also injured.

The children were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. They are all in good condition and have been reunited with their families.

Police are still investigating the case, but they believe the children were being trafficked to be exploited in other countries. They are asking the public to come forward if they have any information about the case.

The rescue of these children is a major victory in the fight against human trafficking. It is a reminder that this crime is still happening in South Africa, and that we all have a role to play in stopping it.

If you suspect that a child is being trafficked, please report it to the police immediately. You can also call the Human Trafficking Hotline at 0800 222 777.

The public has been requested to check the Kliprivier police station to see if they have any information regarding the missing child(ren). This is a critical step in the investigation, as it could help to identify the traffickers and bring them to justice.

We applaud the efforts of the police and the concerned citizen who helped to rescue these children. We are committed to fighting human trafficking in South Africa, and we will not rest until every child is safe.
