Ximex Cellphone Dealer Shot In Dramatic Robbery Scene

In a disturbing incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Braeside, a cellphone dealer working at Ximex Mall in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) was the victim of a violent robbery perpetrated by a social media scammer.

The thief, who had posed as a potential buyer, shot and injured the unsuspecting dealer, Howard Mudzamiri.

Howard Mudzamiri and his workmate, Tinashe Bhamu, received an Instagram message from an individual named Ashy, inquiring about the availability and prices of iPhone 14 Promax and iPhone 12 Promax.

The conversation took a sinister turn when Ashy requested that the cellphones be delivered to an address in Braeside.

However, as they exchanged the cellphones, Clemence revealed his true intentions. Armed with a pistol, he demanded the bag containing the cellphones, putting Howard and Tinashe in grave danger.

In a desperate attempt to escape, Howard sped off in his car, with Clemence still inside, H-Metro reports.

The Dramatic Escape

Howard drove towards Braeside Police Station. In a harrowing turn of events, Clemence fired two shots through the car window, but Howard’s determination to escape remained unshaken.

However, as he approached a vegetable market at the corner of General Booth Road and Malta Road, Howard lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a tree. Seizing the opportunity, Clemence snatched the bag containing the cellphones and fled the scene.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident and appealed for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
