Former Warriors star Gift Muzadzi arrested for growing weed

Gift Muzadzi, former goalkeeper for Zimbabwe Warriors and Dynamos FC, appeared in court over accusations that he cultivated seven mbanje plants in his garden.

When Muzadzi came before Harare magistrate Mrs. Yeukai Dzuda, he was charged with violating the Dangerous Drugs Act and was remanded on $50,000 bail.

The court heard that on May 29, police received information that mbanje was being grown in a residence in the Good Hope area of north-west Harare.

In response to the information, police went to Muzadzi’s home and discovered seven mbanje plants in the garden.

They interviewed Muzadzi’s wife, Mendy Mhene, who said that the plants belonged to her husband.

The officers then spoke to Muzadzi who admitted that the mbanje plants belonged to him.

The plants were between 0,86m to 1,8m high and the police officers uprooted them and took them away as exhibits.
