40 injured in CAG bus accident
Several people were injured in an accident involving a CAG Travellers and Coaches bus that took place on Friday, November 3, as it was heading from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls, according to confirmation from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
According to earlier reports, the bus overturned near the Mphahambe area between the Umguza Toll Gate and Tyce Hurst, trapping several passengers inside.
The ZRP said in a statement released on Monday, November 6, that the bus went off the road, flipped over, and then came to rest on its right side, injuring forty people.
According to police, at around 10 in the morning, the accident unfolded at the 34-kilometer peg along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road. Reads the following:
The ZRP confirms a road traffic accident in which 40 people were injured when a CAG bus with 60 passengers on board veered off the road and overturned before landing on its right side at the 34-kilometre peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on 03/11/23 at around 1000 hours. The injured were admitted to Mpilo Hospital.
The cause of the crash has not been revealed but overspeeding has often been cited as one of the major causes of bus accidents in Zimbabwe.
