Ex Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Boss Karikoga Kaseke Dies

Former Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Chief Executive Officer Cde Karikoga Kaseke has died.

His wife, Mrs Irene Kaseke confirmed that Mr Kaseke died at a local hospital in Harare where he was admitted following deterioration in his health.

Mr Kaseke suffered a stroke in 2018 which forced him to retire from ZTA on health grounds.

His sister, Mrs Hazvinei Kaseke-Nyamupinga said she had lost a brother and protector who was known as a unifier in their family.

Mourners are gathered at number 38 Boscobel Drive West, Highlands in Harare.

Karikoga Kaseke Resigns From ZTA

Karikoga Kaseke has been forced to retire on health grounds after being away from work since 2018.

In a press statement, ZTA acting board chairperson Precious Sibiya, said Karikoga Kaseke’s retirement followed recommendations by a medical board after a long period of indisposition.

“The board and indeed everyone had hoped for his recovery, and we continue to pray for the restoration of his health,” Sibiya.

“Dr KK as he is affectionately known, will be sadly missed at the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority in particular and the tourism industry as a whole both locally and beyond our borders. “

“We would like to kindly request you to continue with your support and cooperation as we recruit a new chief executive for the organization.”

His date of retirement was given as July 1, 2021.

Kaseke was appointed ZTA CEO in June 2005.
