Politician Linda Masarira’s husband has been convicted of domestic violence and sentenced to a 15-month jail term for Gender-based violence.
Bongani Mlotshwa, who is 29 years old appeared before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court, however, he received a suspended prison sentence, and he will now have to perform 350 hours of community service instead.
On May 5th, 2024, Bongani punched LEAD president, 41-year-old Linda Masarira, three times in the eye after she caught him in an intimate situation with her daughter.
The State proved that on the 5th of May 2024 the accused person assaulted the complainant thrice on the eye with clenched fists after the complainant had found him sleeping in her daughter’s room. Some reports claim that the incident unfolded when Linda discovered Bongani engaging in sexual activity with her 22-year-old daughter, Kupa.
He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment of which 5 months were suspended for 5 years. A further 10 months was suspended on condition that the accused person perform 350 hours of community service.
Linda Masarira was hospitalised after being assaulted by her husband, Bongani Mlotshwa.
She asked for privacy as she dealt with this private matter as the media went into overdrive.

There were earlier reports on social media which suggested that Masarira suffered injuries, including the loss of her left eye, due to the assault by her husband. On X (formerly Twitter), a user by the name of @DrDelinquent_ made claims that Linda Masarira was physically assaulted by her husband after she caught him in a compromising position with her 22-year-old daughter, Kupa.
