Meghan Markle expresses delight in Harry showing happiness during Africa visit

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle expressed that she and her husband, Prince Harry were really happy during their return to Africa where they visited Nigeria this past weekend.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent the past weekend in Nigeria, an African country on the Gulf of Guinea. Prince Harry and Meghan were invited to the country by Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, the country’s highest-ranking military official. According to The Mirror, the couple stayed in Nigeria for total of three days.

The couple appear to be in a much better place now, than when they visited Africa in 2019. The pair visited South Africa in 2019, while Meghan was “struggling” with negative press. However, she revealed that this time around – five years later – she and Prince Harry were doing great during their trip to Africa.

“We’re just doing great. And happy to be watching our family grow up and evolve. Of course I’m happy. We’re really happy,” Meghan said to People.

Days before the Nigerian trip, Prince Harry travelled to London for the Invictus Games 10-year celebration ceremony. Daily Mail reported that Meghan flew from Los Angeles to Heathrow Airport, UK, to meet with her husband at the VIP Windsor Suite.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit their roles as senior working members of the royal family in 2020. The pair then moved to California, US, where they started a new life with their family. Prince Harry and Meghan are parents to Prince Archie (4) and Princess Lilibet (2).

Prince Harry told the publication that trips like this Nigerian trip to about them going out and focusing on things that mean a lot to them. People’s foreign correspondent, Simon Perry, will be joining the pair on their trip to Nigeria to cover their various outings.

“These trips are about us being able to go out and go and focus on the things that mean so much to us. And being able to be on the ground, to us, is what it’s all about,” he said.

While Meghan explained that being able to connect with people makes the trip special.

“It’s really meaningful. Just being able to connect to people…that’s what makes it special,” she said.

Interestingly so, Meghan discovered through a genealogy test that she is 43% Nigerian. So, she felt like she was in “her country.” She also expressed that she hopes to inspire the youth.

“I always reflect back on myself as a young girl and the type of inspiration that I wanted to see in other women. I hope in some small way I can be a part of that for a lot of these young girls especially,” she said.

Meghan continued, “I saw myself in them. I see the potential in all of these young girls — and, by the way, in these young boys as well.”
