Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, recently made headlines with a controversial social media post targeting her father, Dumisani Dlamini.
The 1995-born US singer is the daughter of the South African actor and musician and his former partner, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer.
Doja has been open about her unconventional relationship with her father, even stating that she had not yet met him in the past. In 2022, Dumisani, known for his role as Chester in the popular SABC 1 series “Yizo Yizo,” claimed to have travelled to New York to spend time with his “baby.”
In an Instagram post over the weekend, Doja Cat threw shade at her father, Dumisani Dlamini.
The quirky singer posted a pic of her face and behind with the caption: “Dad, lemme know when/if you need me to re-up your makeup cabinet cuz you a b**ch.”
In the comments section, Doja tagged Dumisani’s IG handle and bizarrely continued: “I got Urban Decay, I got Pat McGrath Labs, I got Fenty, I got Scott Barnes. Let me know. I got your back, sis.”
The 28-year-old also liked comments that read: “That’s so disrespectful” and “Dad diss track coming?”.
One follower – likely a South African – commented: “You are messing with the wrong one. Zulus don’t play…your ancestors will humble you”. Doja Cat clapped back: “Go give the deadbeat a kiss on the lips for me.”
She added: “[Dumisani] gave me a lazy eye and dipped.”
Under a post on Dumisani’s Instagram account, Doja Cat commented: “F**k you”.
Earlier this month, Doja fired shots at Dumisani when she posted on her X bio: “My dad’s a deadbeat, but I did well.”

In a 2017 interview with Tshisalive, Dumisani Dlamini attempted to set the record straight about his relationship with Doja Cat.
Explaining how he fathered the star, Dumisani revealed he had remained in New York for another 15 years after starring in the Broadway musical Voices of Sarafina alongside Leleti Khumalo and Mbongeni Ngema.
The actor revealed that he had then met Deborah and fathered two children with her, one of them being Doja Cat.
However, Dumisani claimed he returned to South Africa after experiencing “homesickness”. He also claimed that he planned to bring his US family back to South Africa – a move which never materialised.
Dumisani also shot down claims he had a strained relationship with Doja Cat and his other children. He told the publication: “I am close to my kids, all of them. I love them, and they love me.
“I’m so proud of her for what she has achieved. I’m not surprised because it’s in the blood. In fact, all my kids are very talented. I think South Africa as a whole should be proud of such a great talent coming from us.”
