Man Sets House On Fire, Kills Own Child

After a domestic argument, a furious Beitbridge man allegedly killed his 10-month-old child by setting his house on fire.

According to reports, his wife and an older child managed to flee the oncoming blaze while she was hurt.

It is believed that the man severely assaulted his wife before lighting the house on fire by opening a gas cylinder inside his home.

The alleged drunk suspect ran away from the scene while being pursued by the public.

Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo, the officer in charge of the Beitbridge Police District, confirmed the incident but did not provide further details.

Additionally, he did not disclose whether the suspect, only identified as Gibson, had been detained.

Gibson, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, is believed to have pierced his wife in the hand with a knife, according to a social media post that went viral in Beitbridge.

While his wife and kids were still inside, he then released gas out into the house and set it on fire.

The infant was left behind as the wife fled with an older child.
