On January 2, a 14-year-old girl died from difficulties after giving birth.
Delight Masomeke of Johanne Marange Church died in Buhera on Tuesday, causing family difficulties.
Relatives blocked Delight’s funeral to negotiate with the killer’s family.
Norris Jones, Delight’s uncle, claimed there’s been no arrest.
“We sought police assistance yesterday to halt Delight’s funeral,” he stated.
My niece reportedly gave birth to a baby girl on December 29, 2022, at home.
She was ill till she died on January 2.
No arrests have been made despite our police report.
Jones’ father was in his mid-20s.
“She was in 7th grade when I checked,” I don’t know how or when she married. He was horrified by her death after delivering birth.
“I learned she was his second wife.”
Jones was grieved by the child’s death.
“We’re stunned and certainly in mourning, but we have a responsibility to prevent such tragedies,” he said.
“We’ll hire the husband after the autopsy.
“For now, we’re letting the bereaved grieve and letting the police investigate.”
Girl child rights groups are concerned about a rise in underage birth deaths.
Anna Machaya, 14, gave birth at a Johane Marange temple in Manicaland last year, sparking uproar.
Ferby Munyafi, 15, of Chiadzwa Village, Marange, died from heavy bleeding during delivery.
Nokutenda Hwaramba, 15, died while giving birth in Bikita, Masvingo province, last year.
