I am the Vice President of CCC: Biti opens up after Chamisa resignation

Tendai Biti has finally come out clean to claim his position as the Vice President of CViotizens Coalition for Change (CCC) amidst tensions in the party.

Nelson Chamisa recently resigned from the party in a social media post saying he has “nothing to do with CCC”.

Some of Members of Parliament expressed their solidarity with him for distancing himself from the party whilst some like Advocate Mahere, formally resigned from Parliament.

Sengezo Tshabangu claimed he was the party’s Secretary General and began a slew of recalls from Parly which threw CCC into disarray.

Meanwhile, Tendai Biti had not commented on Tshabangu’s political moves or revealed his political plans. Recently, in an interview with NRTV, the politician claimed that as the Vice President of the party, he has not heard or received any form of formal resignation from Chamisa.

Asked why he claims to be the Vice President, meanwhile, they once claimed to have adopted Strategic Ambiguity”, that said CCC has no structures and no positions.

“…Speaking for myself, I’m Tendai Biti the Vice President of the Citizens Coalition for Change and I’m going nowhere…

All I know is that there was a Congress in 2019 and that Congress has not been reversed by any processes so I’m a leader in Triple C, and a proud leader in the Triple C” he said.

This proves that there has never been consensus in the party since Chamisa announced Biti’s exit as Vice President.

last year, Nelson Chamisa announced the departure of co-deputies, Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti, and Happymore Chidziva from that party.

This revelation, made during a Citizens National Assembly (CNA), deepened the rift within the CCC and highlighted growing internal turmoil.

A source privy to the proceedings reported that Chamisa made this startling announcement in response to a query from senior CCC member, Rangarirai Mutingwende, who had questioned the absence of prominent members like Ncube and Biti from the CNA meetings.

“Chamisa’s declaration was clear and unequivocal. He stated that Ncube, Biti, and Chidziva were no longer part of the CCC and were free to form their political entities if they wished,” the source recounted.

The source said that the meeting took a charged turn when Chamisa, visibly irate, accused some within the CCC of betrayal.

The source reported that during the meeting, Chamisa expressed his frustration with the internal situation of the party, stating, “Unknowingly, I have nurtured vipers and traitors among us, and the time has come to reveal all the traitors within the CCC.”

With Chamisa’s resignation, this technically makes Biti or Ncube the President.
