Manhunt for man threatening to kill President Mnangagwa in a video begins

The Zimbabwe Republic Police are appealing for information to help identify and locate the man captured on camera in 2020 threatening to shoot President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The shocking video, which went viral four years ago, has resurfaced on social media, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

In 2020, an unidentified man posted a video threatening to shoot President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He accused the President of failing to govern the country effectively and turn around the economy.

In the video, he brandished a gun and asserted his intention to shoot President Mnangagwa in the head. He asserted that, despite the President’s security measures, he and other “highly trained” individuals could access the President even in his bedroom, posing a threat to his safety.

The man, however later came out claiming that his account was ‘hacked’ by members of the opposition MDC party.

He asserted that the MDC manipulated his account, and altered a pre-existing video by changing the audio to align with their agenda.

Police Seek Assistance: Authorities Appeal for Information on Man Seen Threatening the President in Viral Video
In response to the resurfaced video on social media, the police have publicly appealed to the public, urging them to come forward with any information regarding the individual featured in the trending video.

In an official statement, the police emphasized that anyone with information should report to the nearest police station.

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may assist to identify and locate a man who is seen on social media brandishing two pistols while threatening to kill the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and some Government officials.

The man is wearing a black suit and a purple shirt. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” reads the statement.
