Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star Phakamani Mahlambi granted R5000 bail for GBV
Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Phakamani Mahlambi has recently made headlines after being arrested on charges of domestic violence.
The right-winger was released on R5,000 bail after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with his girlfriend over a microwave.
According to a source close to the couple who spoke anonymously to Scrolla.Africa, the incident took place at their home near Edenvale. Phakamani and his girlfriend apparently got into an argument about the microwave before things turned physical.

Phakamani Mahlambi spent Tuesday night in police holding cells at the Sebenza cop shop near Kempton Park and appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on two charges of common assault and domestic violence. Although his girlfriend allegedly wanted to drop the charges after reporting him to the police, the court refused as domestic violence is considered a serious offence.
This is not the first time that Phakamani has made headlines for non-football-related matters. He was recently accused of faking his age, with some reports suggesting that he may be older than what his official records show.
Phakamani Mahlambi turns 27 in September and started his career with Bidvest Wits before joining Al Ahly in 2017 and moving to Sundowns a year later.
