Tragedy struck Wednesday when an unidentified man died in a car accident a day after paying lobola in Madokero, Harare on Tuesday.
According to reports, the man had gone out with his friends to celebrate the occasion when they were involved in an accident.
The aunt, sister to the ‘bride’s’ father sent a distress message to Star FM after it emerged that the family of the deceased is struggling to pay for the funeral and that he did not have a funeral policy.
This prompted some family members to suggest refunding the lobola money they received for the lobola but they are facing resistance.
“Our son-in-law, husband to my brother’s daughter, died in a car accident soon after paying lobola. Now his family is struggling to fund the funeral and I have reached out to my brother for us to refund the lobola money. Some family members are against the idea. Am I wrong?”
It has also emerged that the two had not stayed together at all.
