UPDATE: Robert Mugabe Jr Assaulted Cop During His Rampage

While Zimbabwe’s Mugabe family may be best known for relishing a good political party, it turns out one of its sons, Robert Mugabe Jr, seems to increasingly relish parties of an entirely different sort. This was brought into sharp focus by his latest antics at a party in the capital of Harare where he allegedly trashed cars and property over the weekend.
According to reports, the 31-year-old faces three counts of malicious damage to property and two charges of assault on a police officer.

Mugabe Jr, the second child of late president Robert Mugabe with his widow, Grace, allegedly smashed car windscreens and spat on an officer at the party.
According to a police statement issued on Twitter, the arrest followed a complaint by his friend, Sindiso Nkatazo. The damages have been estimated to be in the region of $12,000 (about R217,000).

MUGABE’S SON SEEKS OUT-OF-COURT SETTLEMENT
In the latest BBC update, the late president’s son was freed after appearing in the Harare Magistrate’s Court on Monday 20 February. He has denied the charges and claims that he is innocent.
His lawyer Ashiel Mugiya argued that the prosecutors had not done a thorough investigation of the incident and suggested an amicable out-of-court settlement considering that Mugabe Jr and the complainant are friends.
If these negotiations however fail, he will be summoned back to court. According to Muyiga the charges of assault against an officer and resisting arrest were likely to be dropped.
