Former Studio 263 Actor ongayi Chirisa Lands Leading Role In Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts

Tongayi Arnold Chirisa, a Zimbabwean actor, has landed a major role as the lead in the Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts film. Chirisa has been cast as the voice of Maximal Cheetor, a fan favourite.

The Zimbabwean actor previously portrayed “Man Friday” on NBC’s Crusoe television series, “Father Nicholas” on The Jim Gaffigan Show, and “Hekule” in Leon Schuster’s Mr Bones 2: Back from the Past film.

Chirisa’s role as Cheetor in Transformers: Rise of The Beasts caps off a stellar career that began almost two decades ago as Detective Davis on the Zimbabwean soapie Studio 263.

Chirisa continues to raise the Zimbabwean flag in the United States. In 2022, Chirisa enjoyed a stellar run of roles on series such as Women of the Movement. He also starred alongside fellow Zimbabwean Charmaine Bingwa on the Netflix-acquired production Trees of Peace, he was also on Netflix’s The Anthrax Attacks and the film Next Exit.

Sharing the news on his role in Transformers: Rise of The Beasts on his official Instagram account on Friday, Chirisa wrote,

“So there is a story to this!!! Per the usual standard… I had to sign an NDA, so I had NO IDEA what I was reading for.. it was only when I was in the booth to do my voice over that it dawned on me that I was reading for TRANSFORMERS Like what!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯 I totally geeked out in the moment.. Man, to say this is mad exciting is an understatement…

“So thankful. So honored, so blessed!!!! Massive shout out and THANK YOU to @stevencaplejr for putting your boi on! Appreciate you, fam!!!”

In another post on Twitter, Chirisa wrote,

More About Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is an upcoming American science fiction action film based on Hasbro’s Transformers toy line and primarily influenced by the Beast Wars storyline. The film is the seventh installment in the Transformers film series and a stand-alone sequel to Bumblebee (2018).

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on June 9, 2023, by Paramount Pictures. Two sequels are in development.
