Veteran dancehall deejay Gully Bop passed away at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Tuesday 31 October 2023. Having been hospitalized for the past 3 months. The artist had been having medical issues and reached out to his peers and the public for help. Born Robert Lee Malcom, Gully Bop was initially hospitalized sometime in 2021 due to blocked tubes and a hernia where he was admitted to the same hospital, KPH.
He had a myriad of health issues, including undergoing surgery in 2022, and earlier this year, he reportedly had a kidney transplant.

In addition to his health issues, various stories began to surface of things such as domestic violence allegations, and other relationship issues with his kids. This compounded onto the artist who eventually died homeless and broke.
After reaching out to the public for help, it was his church pastor who took on the mantle to care of the guy. Following his death the pastor had this to say;
“The man sick and ah sh*t up self, everybody ah call say can you confirm that Gully Bop is dead? Stop worry about Gully Bop, it is finished,” Tate began. “Everybody wanted to see him dead, they don’t look at the earthquake and wake up and change dem dutty ways,” the pastor said.
As you can tell, the man was not liked much. Many artists have said he was not a good man and it is unfortunate that he will be remembered that way. His exes went as far as refusing to help him in his time of need as well leaving it to the current wife. Gully Bop is best known for songs like Body Specialist, Who She Want?” Hope and Pray, Kill Dem With Style, and Street Wise.
