OFFICIAL: Mamelodi Sundowns Part Ways with Andile Jali

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed they have officially parted ways with veteran midfielder Andile Jali by mutual consent.

Jali joined Sundowns back in 2018 after leaving Belgian side KV Oostende, where he played 124 matches while scoring two goals and assisting a further eight.

Since joining the Brazilians Jali has bagged four goals and grabbed three assists in 139 appearances across all competitions.

The 33-year-old played a key role in Sundowns’ success, having won four league titles, two Nedbank Cup trophies, a Telkom Knockout Cup and one MTN8 title.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder played his final game for Sundowns in February during their 3-2 victory over Richards Bay in the Nedbank Cup.

Sundowns have since released the following statement on Jali’s departure:

“The contract between Mamelodi Sundowns and Andile Ernest Jali which was due to conclude at the end of the current season, has been terminated by mutual consent.”

“The former Bafana Bafana international joined Sundowns in June 2018 ahead of the 2018/19 seasons and has been at Chloorkop for five (5) campaigns. During his stay at Sundowns, the midfielder played 142 matches and has been crowned a champion five (5) times, making him one of the most decorated players in the PSL.

“The influential player was part of two domestic treble-winning Sundowns teams and achieved the same feat before he joined the Club.

“We thank Andile for his contribution and wish him well for the future. The Club and its supporters will fondly remember his performances for Ka Bo Yellow.”
