Plane Carrying Malawian Vice President Goes Missing

A plane carrying Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima has gone missing, a statement from the president’s office said.

The Malawi Defense Force aircraft “went off the radar” after it left the nation’s capital, Lilongwe, on Monday, it added.

According to reports, Chilima was en route to Mzuzu, where he was supposed to travel on to Nkhata Bay for the burial of the late Ralph Kasambala.

Principal Secretary of Vice President’s office, Lucky Sikwese has just confirmed that the plane carrying VP Chilima has not landed at any of the country’s airports as expected after failing to land in Mzuzu due to bad weather and authorities are searching for the plane.

There were nine other people onboard.
