Pastor abducted over prophet’s infidelity with married woman

A pastor in Harare was abducted after a dispute regarding his church leader’s alleged involvement with a married woman. The prophet’s adultery has resulted in the kidnapping of his second in command.

David Garutso was last seen on Saturday after being bundled into a car at the house he rented in Hatfield.

Garutso, a member of By Grace Ministries, a church run by Prophet Obert Mapfumo, was summoned to his gate. There, he was approached by a man named Obert Mapfumo, who had allegedly kidnapped one of his followers’ wives.

David was asked to share the whereabouts of the self-proclaimed prophet. Garutso’s bother shared with H-Metro that David had been at a church meeting where Mapfumo’s affair with a married woman was discussed.

According to the brother, the unidentified men came under the pretence that they were seeking prophecies from David. They think that his abduction was because of differences in opinions among the church leaders.

According to David’s brother, Garutso is second in line from Mapfumo and disagrees with other leaders’ requests to change the law. There is said to have been a misunderstanding at Tadhinhiwa Prayer Mountain among the leaders.

In 2017, Prophet Mapfumo was notoriously known for putting oil on married women’s privates, saying it was for prayer. Many people bashed the prophet on social media for leading his congregation astray and doing immoral things.

He was arrested at Star FM during an interview with Tilder Moyo over the oil issue. The police came and took him away during his Interview.

Mapfumo was released from prison after appealing against his sentence and serving five months in jail.
